Club History

The Time Meddlers of Los Angeles was founded in June 1986 when a small group of people met at KCET TV in Los Angeles, the channel that aired Doctor Who in the L.A. area.  The club charter was written that fall and the club began its rise to head L.A. Doctor Who fandom.

Membership took off in October 1987 when the Doctor Who Traveling Exhibition from BBC Enterprises visited L.A. with Janet Fielding and brand-new Doctor Sylvester McCoy.

In January 1989, the Council began work on the Gallifrey conventions.  March 1989 marked the beginning of Gallifrey as a separate entity when our Council elected the first Gallifrey Board of Directors.  All five members of the Council have served on the committees and/or staff of Gallifrey since its founding.
