TV MOVIE
Doctor Who, the Movie (Story 160) – The Master is exterminated by the Daleks on Skaro, and the Doctor (Sylvester McCoy) agrees to take his remains back to Gallifrey in the TARDIS. The Master is not really dead, however, but has transformed into a shapeless snake creature. The Master causes the TARDIS to make an emergency landing in San Francisco in the year 1999. The Doctor emerges from the ship and is shot by rival gang members. He sustains gunshot wounds and is taken to the hospital for emergency treatment.
Grace Holloway (Daphne Ashbrook) attempts to operate on him, but not knowing he was an alien, actually causes his death. The Doctor wakes up hours later in a new body, his eighth regeneration (Paul McGann). Meanwhile, The Master has taken over the body of an ambulance driver. This is just a temporary measure until he can inhabit the Doctor’s body. The Master gains access to the Doctor’s TARDIS and the Doctor manages to convince Grace he is the same man that she thought had died on her operating table.
Together they race against time to prevent the Master’s scheme from bringing about the Earth’s destruction. They eventually succeed, and the Master is sucked into the Eye of Harmony. The Doctor gives Grace a goodbye and departs in the TARDIS as the world celebrates the millennium.
